What does breast reduction involve?

Techniques vary, but the most common procedure involves an incision around the nipples. From that area, Dr. Kitto will make an incision down to the natural curve under the breast and remove the appropriate amount of fat, glandular tissue, and skin. The incisions will be closed with stitches.

How long will it take me to recover from a breast reduction surgery?

After the procedure, common symptoms are soreness, swelling, and bruising for a few days. It is also normal to experience tender breasts or numb nipples. Strenuous activity must be limited for at least 3–4 weeks.

What are the benefits of breast reduction?

You will benefit from increased self-esteem and relief from discomforts like back, neck, or shoulder pain. Women can often increase their physical activity and have an easier time finding clothing and bras that fit appropriately.

Will my insurance pay for a breast reduction?

Elective cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance, but if you have large breasts causing pain and discomfort, insurance may be able to help cover some or all of the cost. You may need to provide proof of your health issues.
